Reflection | Original Oil Painting on Canvas

Water, like glass. Slowly making our way through the inlet. Silent laps of water extend from our wake. Birds sit atop trees, staring intently at the water for fish to catch. Grasses bend ever so slightly from an unfelt wind. Fish meander. Crabs silently do their side-walk under eel grass. Tiny shells move under the surface with their owner hiding underneath. Clouds dot the sky, with no chance of limiting the sunshineβs rays on the water. In the distance, a small island beckons us.
It is a perfect moment.
Oil paintings are created with an underpainting and finished with an Alla Prima technique. Oil paintings are created with artist grade paints, canvas, solvents and oils. All edges are also hand-painted with a continuation of the artistic subject, rather than masked edges, resulting in a beautiful raised look that will look professional both framed or unframed. Dry times for oil paintings last 1 year or more and have been completed.

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, one might say Iβve become fixated on the landscape surrounding me. Rainy beaches, soft waves that are protected by distant shorelines, sun-laden coves of trees and an endless sky of clouds - itβs all a boundless muse. This current collection of works were painted over the course of several months, during a storm season that defines a new normal, affected by climate change. I used brushstrokes, lines, shapes and color embody emotion within the vastness of these landscapes. I am calling this series βDevotionβ.
