Fog drifted low across the blue water, softening the edges of everything it touched. The horizon blurred into a single gentle gradient, sky folding into sea with no real line between them. The blue beneath stayed steady, muted but certain, while the fog moved like a slow breath above it. The whole scene felt pared back, hushed, and quietly beautiful in its simplicity.

Oil paintings are created with an underpainting and finished with an Alla Prima technique. Oil paintings are created with artist grade paints, canvas, solvents and oils. All edges are also hand-painted with a continuation of the artistic subject, rather than masked edges, resulting in a beautiful raised look that will look professional both framed or unframed. Dry times for oil paintings last 1 year or more and have been completed.

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, one might say I’ve become fixated on the landscape surrounding me. Rainy beaches, soft waves that are protected by distant shorelines, sun-laden coves of trees and an endless sky of clouds - it’s all a boundless muse. This current collection of works were painted over the course of several months, during a storm season that defines a new normal, affected by climate change. I used brushstrokes, lines, shapes and color embody emotion within the vastness of these landscapes. I am calling this series “Devotion”.
