Barn | Original Oil Painting on Canvas

There is a special piece of land deep in the heart of Oregon and we were privileged to share a little corner of it for a few days while camping there. Rolling hills of waving grasses, a trail that meanders down to a pond, and roaming cattle that help greet the sun in the morning.
I wandered and watched my family relaxing into the spaces of beauty that lay around every corner. As the sun set, the kids ran around and played hide and seek in the tall grass. Craving a peek at the view before the sun went down, I wandered up the hillside to a gorgeous barn on the property. It stood, door open, proudly finished with itβs job decades prior. There is something a little breathtaking about a barn that has been around for 100 years.
Oil paintings are created with an underpainting and finished with an Alla Prima technique. Oil paintings are created with artist grade paints, canvas, solvents and oils. All edges are also hand-painted with a continuation of the artistic subject, rather than masked edges, resulting in a beautiful raised look that will look professional both framed or unframed. Dry times for oil paintings last 1 year or more and have been completed.

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, one might say Iβve become fixated on the landscape surrounding me. Rainy beaches, soft waves that are protected by distant shorelines, sun-laden coves of trees and an endless sky of clouds - itβs all a boundless muse. This current collection of works were painted over the course of several months, during a storm season that defines a new normal, affected by climate change. I used brushstrokes, lines, shapes and color embody emotion within the vastness of these landscapes. I am calling this series βDevotionβ.
