After the Storm | Original Oil Painting on Canvas
12 x 16
There is a stillness that occurs after the storm. A blanket of tranquility while rivers still rage, shorelines are littered with remnants from beaches far away, and the earth displays pockets of momentary creeks attempting to deliver excess rainwater to the oceans. After the storm there is a peace in waiting for the remnants to subside.
Oil paintings are created with an underpainting and finished with an Alla Prima technique. Oil paintings are created with artist grade paints, canvas, solvents and oils. All edges are also hand-painted with a continuation of the artistic subject, rather than masked edges, resulting in a beautiful raised look that will look professional both framed or unframed.Dry times for oil paintings last 1 year or more and have been completed.
Watercolor paintings are created on artist grade watercolor paper, mounted on a boxed wood panel with archival glue. I use archival, professional grade watercolors in high-yield-pigment. Watercolor paintings that are not wood-box mounted are unframed due to the abundance of framing styles and options for paper-based watercolor art.

There is so much heaviness around us. In the world, in our communities, in our personal lives. It can feel overwhelming, heartbreaking and guilt inducing. I was reflecting on this and working through big emotions while painting the “Hang On” series. The magnitude of emotions keeps lifting off the canvasses and flooding the crevices of every day. There is a collectiveness with everyone Hanging On.
These paintings were an exploration into the experience of processing what it means to work through emotions, experiences and heartache instead of avoiding them. They are made up of many layers and warm tones juxtaposed with cool shades. Hold On is a collection of rich complexion, high contrast, and subdued saturation.
