There is so much heaviness around us. In the world, in our communities, in our personal lives. It can feel overwhelming, heartbreaking and guilt inducing. I was reflecting on this and working through big emotions while painting the βHang Onβ series. The magnitude of emotions keeps lifting off the canvasses and flooding the crevices of every day. There is a collectiveness with everyone Hanging On.
These paintings were an exploration into the experience of processing what it means to work through emotions, experiences and heartache instead of avoiding them. They are made up of many layers and warm tones juxtaposed with cool shades. Hold On is a collection of rich complexion, high contrast, and subdued saturation.
